Underground Storage Tank (UST) Remediation | Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality

The Underground Storage Tank (UST) Remediation is responsible for managing and overseeing clean up efforts at locations that have or have had leaking UST systems. Using Risk Evaluation/Corrective Action Program (RECAP), consistent standards are established for the clean up of contaminated soils and groundwater to the footprint of the area at the time of the release.

When a leak or a release occurs at an eligible facility, the Louisiana Motor Fuel Trust Fund can be used to fund the clean up efforts and restore the facility footprint. The Louisiana Motor Fuel Trust Fund uses a Cost Guidance document and requires the use of an approved Response Action Contractor for reimbursement and clean up management.
