Planning and Assessment
Air Planning and Assessment covers a broad range of activities that protect public health by monitoring emissions, evaluating air data, and guiding clean air strategies.
Sections
Ambient Air Monitoring
LDEQ maintains a statewide monitoring network, made up of stationary and mobile ambient air monitoring stations. From these sites, personnel collect direct measurements of air pollutant concentrations, analyze, and interpret the data.

Engineering Notification and Stack Testing
The Engineering Notification and Stack Testing section is responsible for reviewing stack test methodology and requirements for compliance and performance tests.
Stack Test Scheduling Tool
A copy of the notification and protocol will be sent directly to the Engineering Support Group AND the appropriate regional office. There is no need to submit notifications or protocols by mail for stack tests that are scheduled online.

Motor Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance
Louisiana has adopted a low enhanced Inspection and Maintenance (I/M) program for the control and abatement of motor vehicle emissions in the five-parish Baton Rouge ozone nonattainment area. Only vehicles registered in Ascension, East Baton Rouge, Iberville, Livingston, and West Baton Rouge parishes are subject to this rule.
Qualified Inspection Stations
The list of qualified inspection stations is maintained by the Department of Public Safety.

Out of State Vehicle Emissions Test
Emissions test for a vehicle that is currently located in Louisiana may be performed by any official Motor Vehicle Inspection (MVI) Station in the Baton Rouge ozone nonattainment area during normal inspection hours. A Vehicle Inspection Report (VIR) is available as the official test record.
State Implementation Planning (SIP)
The SIP is the state’s comprehensive plan to clean the air and meet federal air quality standards.
