• Any facility/commercial building that has an individual sewage treatment plant. 

Regulations in a Nutshell:

• LAC 33:IX Chapters 3 and 7.  General sanitary permits are issued for facilities discharging less than 100,000 gallons per day of effluent.

Reporting and Recordkeeping: 

• Each permit outlines the parameters and frequency of monitoring and reporting. Frequency varies based on the size of the facility and the waste it is allowed to process.  This frequency can be annual, semi-annual, quarterly, monthly, or weekly.

Important Dates: 

• Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMR) are due on the 28th day of the month following the end of each monitoring period.
  Housekeeping Suggestions: 

On a weekly basis check the following items:Be sure the aerator is running

• Make sure there is chlorine in the chlorine contactor and that it is making contact with the effluent
• Check the discharge for rotten-egg odors or discoloration
• Keep all plant growth away from the treatment plant AND the discharge pipe.
• Keep the aerator motor free of ants
• Any low areas around the treatment plant should be kept filled and graded to prevent rainwater from entering the plant
