LDEQ has postponed the August 5 meeting regarding the Dresser site

The LDEQ has postponed the Aug. 5 meeting regarding the Dresser remediation. The event was to be held Thursday evening at Country Inn and Suites, 2727 Monroe Highway in Pineville.

Gov. John Bel Edward issued a proclamation on Aug. 2 recognizing a continuing statewide health emergency. LDEQ is postponing this meeting to help curtail the further spread of the virus. The current surge in COVID-19 is fueled by the highly communicable Delta variant, which makes any public meeting or assembly a risk for wholesale transmission of the disease.

“The health and safety of the public, our staff, and other participants in the proposed meeting are our top concern,” said LDEQ Secretary Dr. Chuck Carr Brown. “At the same time, we place a high priority on getting the citizens of Pineville the latest and most accurate information about the remediation efforts at and around the Dresser facility. We will continue to provide that information on our website and in press releases. When conditions allow it, we will reschedule this meeting.”
