Sewage Sludge & Biosolids
Do I Need a Sewage Sludge or Biosolids Permit?
A Sewage Sludge or Biosolids Use or Disposal Permit is required when a sewage sludge is treated in a manner to create an Exceptional Quality or Class B Biosolids for benificial reuse. Facilities that pump out/haul off or landfill sewage sludge are no longer required to obtain a permit, but will need to follow the requirements at LAC 33:IX.7301.D.2.d or e.
Sewage Sludge Hauler Registrations are required for the person responsible for the operations of sewage sludge transport activities. Transport activities include, but are not limited to, pick-up, hauling, and disposal of sewage sludge, domestic septage, portable toilet waste, biosolids, and/or sewage sludge mixed with grease waste.
