LDEQ announces new invoice processing procedure

The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality is transitioning to a new invoice payment process for the regulated community that will expedite the processing of fees. The new process is slated to begin July 10; applying to fiscal year 2020 invoices and onward.

Six charged with illegal waste tire and solid waste dumping

The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality’s Criminal Investigation Section has charged multiple individuals within the past month for the illegal disposal of waste tires and solid waste. Investigations involving these types of environmental crimes has led to criminal charges against the individuals since May 28, 2019.

Lake Charles man charged with illegal discharge of untreated sewage wastes

Lake Charles man charged with illegal discharge of untreated sewage wastes. Investigators within the Criminal Investigations Section of the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality and the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a Lake Charles man on two counts of knowingly discharging untreated sewage waste near Sulphur Wednesday, June 12. Under Louisiana law, knowingly discharging a pollutant to waters of the state without the appropriate LDEQ permit and without any prior treatment is a felony.

Wetland Evaluation Report - South Slough Wetland Study Now Available

This report represents an independent evaluation of the City of Hammond South Slough Wetland assimilation system. The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality commissioned Naturally Wallace Consulting to provide a wetland evaluation report in response to questions regarding wetland assimilation projects. The conclusions and recommendations represented herein reflect the professional opinion of the author, and do not necessarily represent the views or opinions of the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality or its employees and officials.
