The staff of the Communications Section is dedicated to providing reporters, writers, photographers, members of the media and concerned citizens with accurate information regarding LDEQ activities, events and general information.
If you are a member of the media, please contact this office to ensure your questions are answered by your deadline. The staff can assist with answering questions about LDEQ’s activities or any questions concerning the environment. The staff can provide an expert on most topics concerning the environment.
The Communications team consists of a Press Secretary, two public information officers and a graphic designer. The team has years of combined experience in the journalism field and in graphic design. The Communications Section routinely distributes information, press releases, media advisories, brochures, public service announcements, informational packets and other correspondence. The team is also responsible for media relations at events. Our team works with several groups to plan ceremonies, special events, public service announcements and content for the website. The section also produces Discover DEQ (the agency's monthly electronic newsletter).
The staff members are responsible for posting news releases concerning the agency’s activities. The site contains current and archived LDEQ news releases dating back to 2001, media advisories, fact sheets, public alerts, storm and hurricane information, an events calendar and a photo gallery. LDEQ is a member of Louisiana.gov News, the official state website, which features up-to-the-minute news from participating state agencies.
This service provides a monthly listing of calendar items including, deadlines, meetings, workshops, presentations and office closures.
Many records are available online in our Electronic Document Management System (EDMS). EDMS contains official records that have been created or received by LDEQ related to official Agency business. Users can conduct searches in the system to retrieve chronological lists of materials for regulated sites and facilities. For questions about using EDMS, use the Contact Us form located under the Help tab of the EDMS website.
If you cannot find the materials you’re looking for in EDMS, public records requests can be submitted online or via mail using our paper form. For questions about the public records request process or to schedule a time to review records in person at our Public Records Center, you can contact Records Management at 225-219-3168 or publicrecords@la.gov.
Office hours are from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. To ensure your story deadline is met in a timely manner, please email us at LDEQCommunications@la.gov. If you are not a member of a media and have general inquiries, please contact our customer service center at 225-219-5337 or 225-219-LDEQ.
