Lafourche Parish man sentenced to jail and to pay $50,000 restitution for environmental crime, theft and criminal damage to property
Yesterday, a Lafourche Parish man, who was arrested in September 2014 by the Criminal Investigation Division of the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality for the illegal discharge of diesel fuel into state waterways, pled guilty to this charge in the 17th Judicial District Court in Thibodaux.

2015 Envirothon environmental competition held at LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens
The 2015 Louisiana Envirothon Environmental Competition was held March 14 at the LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens in Baton Rouge. Five teams from grades 9 through 12 participated in an environmental problem solving competition that consisted of testing in aquatics, forestry, soils, wildlife, the current issue on Urban and Community Forestry and an oral presentation.

Orleans Parish Man pleads guilty to illegally dumping waste tires in Algiers
An Orleans Parish man pleaded guilty and was sentenced Wednesday, Feb. 4, in the Orleans Parish Criminal District Court for violating Louisiana's Environmental Quality Act. Michele A. Morris, 54, of Algiers, illegally dumped solid waste near 178 Woodland Parkway in Algiers in January 2013.

Xplor Energy pleads guilty to felony Clean Water Act violation
U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite announced that XPLOR Energy SPV-1, Inc. ("XPLOR"), an Oklahoma corporation residing in Southlake, Texas, pled guilty today to a one-count bill of information which charged the company with knowingly violating the Clean Water Act, Title 33, United States Code, Section 1319(c)(2)(A).

Washington Parish School Board must institute asbestos handling training
U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite announced today that his office has agreed to defer prosecution on the bill of information it filed against the Washington Parish School Board ("school board") charging it with a felony violation of the Clean Air Act for failing to notify the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality of the 2011 demolition of the Old Pine High School which contained regulated asbestos containing material.

Felony environmental charges added for Lafourche Parish man accused of theft and criminal damage to property
Investigators within the Criminal Investigation Division of the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality obtained a felony arrest warrant on Sept. 11, 2014, for a Lafourche Parish man for the illegal discharge of diesel fuel into state waterways.
