An Environmental Law Enforcement Training Workshop will be held Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Wyndham Gardens, 1419 E. 70th Street, Shreveport, LA 71105.

An Environmental Law Enforcement Training Workshop will be held 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, at the Monroe Public Safety Center, 1810 Martin Luther King Junior Dr., Monroe, LA 71202.

A sewage treatment system maintenance class is being offered at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux Tuesday and Thursday, Nov. 3 and 5. Sessions begin at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. The class is free and open to the general public. People with their own sewage treatment system and those interested in learning about protecting Bayou Lafourche and the surrounding area from improperly treated sewage are encouraged to attend.

A New Jersey man and a Sulphur man were sentenced Thursday, Sept. 17, in the 31st Judicial District Court for violating Louisiana waste disposal laws and the Environmental Quality Act. George L. Ryals III, 63, of Newton, N.J., and Michael Anaker, 57, of Sulphur, illegally disposed of a large number of compressed gas cylinders by abandoning them in a warehouse in Roanoke.

The workshop will be a unique opportunity to hear from federal, state and local law enforcement regarding environmental crimes and environmental laws. Speakers will provide important information regarding the laws and actions regarding illegal dumping and burning, water pollution, littering and air pollution.
