Louisiana citizens create a model litter ordinance template for communities

Citizens of Louisiana, environmental groups and government representatives have created a turnkey solution that can address litter control and develop accompanying infrastructure to enable enforcement mechanisms. The Louisiana Local Government Litter Ordinance Template and Handbook will be introduced at the Louisiana Municipal Association Convention in Lafayette.

DEQ postpones Tubal-Cain hearing, extends comment period

Today, Department of Environment Quality (DEQ) Secretary Peggy Hatch announced the public hearing on Tubal-Cain's permit application will be postponed until Aug. 18. The public comment period will also be extended until Aug. 31.

Lafourche Parish man sentenced to jail and to pay $50,000 restitution for environmental crime, theft and criminal damage to property

Yesterday, a Lafourche Parish man, who was arrested in September 2014 by the Criminal Investigation Division of the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality for the illegal discharge of diesel fuel into state waterways, pled guilty to this charge in the 17th Judicial District Court in Thibodaux.
