Houma Company pleads guilty in federal court to felony violation of the Clean Water Act

CTCO Shipyard of Louisiana, LLC, 141 Bayou Dularge Road, Houma, Louisiana, pled guilty yesterday to an environmental crime for violating the terms of its permit for over a year and a half, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

Lafayette Parish woman arrested for illegal disposal of septic tank wastes

Today, deputies with the Lafayette Parish Sherriff�s Office warrant squad arrested a Lafayette woman for the alleged illegal storage and disposal of grease and septic tank wastes The arrest was pursuant to an arrest warrant obtained by investigators with the Criminal Investigation Division of the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality.

DEQ addresses water quality concerns at Jackson Parish Watershed meeting

EPA commends DEQ on electronic discharge monitoring report program

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality is leading the nation with 31 percent of the electronic Discharge Monitoring Reports (eDMRs) submitted by regulated parties.

Yesterday, an Iberville Parish man pled guilty to violations of Louisiana's Water Control Law and the Environmental Quality Act in state district court.

DEQ paint swap recycled 125 five-gallon buckets of paint

The Greater Baton Rouge Household Hazardous Materials Collection Day and Paint Swap was held on Saturday, March 10. East Baton Rouge residents brought household hazardous materials and leftover paint to Memorial Stadium parking lot. More than 430 residents dropped off recyclables.

Hands-on training offered by DEQ for NetDMR online reporting

The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality is offering training for permittees on the use of the NetDMR online application for the submission of discharge monitoring reports. A discharge monitoring report, known as a DMR, is a self-reporting document that is generated by permittees that have a Louisiana Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit. The DMR contains information pertaining to water discharges into waters of the state.

DEQ, Senator Mike Walsworth present EPA grant to ULM

Peggy Hatch, secretary of the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, and Senator Mike Walsworth, chair of the Senate Environmental Quality Committee, presented an EPA grant to the University of Louisiana at Monroe today in Monroe. Dr. Nick J. Bruno, president of ULM, and Dr. Kevin Baer, principal investigator and toxicology department chair, accepted the grant.
