Lafayette Parish Man Arrested for Knowingly Violating Environmental Permit and Submitting False Reports.
Today, investigators with the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality’s Criminal Investigation Section arrested a Lafayette Parish man on two felony violations of Louisiana’s Water Control Law and two felony violations of filing false public records.
This week, the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality began distributing an updated 2014 Hurricane Resource Manual to all 64 parishes. The manual contains information pertaining to hurricane/emergency recovery assistance as it relates to permitting, debris collection and environmental cleanup resources. This is the third year DEQ has compiled the manual for the parishes.
It is dry in Louisiana right now and wildfires could be started easily, so it is important to know the regulations and laws concerning open burning in the state. When people burn waste, it causes air pollution and, in some cases, can be illegal. Open burning of certain materials is prohibited in Louisiana. If you have a trash pile and burn household waste, construction debris or anything other than vegetative matter, you could be subject to a fine.
