DEQ places second in EPA national EnviroFlash Challenge

DEQ placed second in the 2013 EnviroFlash Challenge by adding479 new subscribers from April 8 to May 31. Thirty agencies throughout the nation competed and recruited a total of 2,179 new subscribers nationwide.

DEQ to initiate watershed inspection project in southwestern Louisiana

In mid-May, environmental scientists from the Southwestern Regional Office of the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality will be commencing a comprehensive water quality investigation of the watersheds in Calcasieu Parish.

Vidalia man pleads guilty to illegal discharges in state waters

Today, Carr William Brown, 53, of Vidalia entered a plea of guilty as a result of the illegal discharges of pollutants into state waters in Cameron Parish. Brown is an employee of Mandeville-based T&F Oil Company.

DEQ to conduct Dye Survey on Bayou Lafourche from Napoleonville to Thibodaux

The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality will perform the second phase of a series of dye studies on Bayou Lafourche in Assumption and Lafourche Parishes. The study will start the week of April 15 and end the week of April 22.

EPA Marks March 18-24 as Fifth Annual Fix a Leak Week

One in every 10 homes has a leak that is wasting at least 90 gallons of water per day. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) WaterSense program encourages Americans to check and replace leaky plumbing fixtures and sprinkler systems, helping households save more than 10,000 gallons of water per year and as much as 10 percent on utility bills.
