ERIC Special Notices

May 7, 2009 – In preparation for migrating historic emission inventory data to ERIC, we have removed the ability to see inventories prior to reporting year 2006.  Once the data has been migrated, we will restore the ability to see prior year inventories.  If you need prior year emissions inventory data, please contact Public Records.

April 1, 2009:

The ERIC system is now available for use in reporting 2008 emissions.

The department issued an Administrative Notice dated January 21, 2009, extending the deadline for reporting year 2008 criteria and toxic air pollutant emissions inventories from March 31, 2009, to June 30, 2009.  The deadline extension applies to any and all facilities required to submit an emissions inventory per LAC 33:III.919 and/or LAC 33:III.5107.A.  The deadline extension also applies to discharge reports required by LAC 33:III.5107.B.5.  The extension applies to point level data required to be submitted through ERIC as well as the certification statement.

Revising a prior year inventory is not currently available in ERIC.  As soon as this feature is online, we will send notification to ERIC users.

If you have any questions, please contact your ERIC staff on the list named ERIC Staff Assignments – found on the left side bar of this site.

About ERIC - Emissions Reporting & Inventory Center

In June 2005, DEQ convened a stakeholder meeting to kick off the project that was designed to update and enhance the existing emissions inventory reporting system.  Based upon input from that initial meeting and a number of smaller workgroup meetings, DEQ developed a scope of services.  In July 2006, DEQ entered into a contract with ENVIRON Corporation to perform the work.  In early April 2007, the ERIC system was launched. This new system is a web based application that utilizes a secure login, and many other features designed to make it easier and faster for facilities to report their emissions data in accordance with the requirements of sections 919 and 5107 of the air regulations.

In order to ensure that facilities understood the reporting changes for their 2006 data and that they had adequate time to submit their first inventories in the ERIC system, DEQ provided guidance thru issuance of three potpourri notices.  The last of these was published on May 20, 2007 and extended the reporting deadlines for both EI and TEDI until September 1, 2007.

About the Emissions Inventory Program

The Data Collection and Evaluation (DCE) Group of the Air Quality Assessment Division is responsible for developing comprehensive criteria and toxic pollutant emissions inventories for the State of Louisiana. The emissions data are used for a variety of planning, regulatory and reporting purposes. The staff works closely with the regulated community, trade groups, and other state and federal agencies to develop and maintain high quality and current emissions data.

Regulated point sources of criteria air pollutants must submit an inventory of annual criteria pollutant emissions pursuant to the requirements of LAC 33:III.919.  Detailed annual emissions data are maintained on nearly 1200 point sources going back to 1984, with the number of point sources changing each year.

In 2007, historical emissions data was migrated into a new web-based reporting system called ERIC - Emissions Reporting & Inventory Center.  ERIC's functionality will include a query tool for use by the public.

Data Sets
These data sets are summary reports generated from the Certification Statements received annually by the Emissions Inventory Unit. The reports are for each year from 1994-2005 containing facility-level Criteria Pollutant totals.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
The DCE Group developed the Frequently Asked Questions page to provide assistance for those required to report criteria pollutant emissions to the DEQ. The staff welcomes your questions and suggestions for expanding this FAQ file.
