- To designate April 22, as "Earth Day", and the month of April as "Earth
- Month".
- WHEREAS, it is very important that we as a state set aside a month and
- a special day for environmental awareness; and
- WHEREAS, all people should be aware of the protection of the
- environment for the future of human, animal, and plant life; and
- WHEREAS, in 1970, Congress designated April as "Earth Month" and
- April 22, as "Earth Day"; and
- WHEREAS, many nations of the world also have designated April as
- "Earth Month" and April 22, as "Earth Day"; and
- WHEREAS, as a result of environmental awareness many laws have
- been created to protect our land, water, species, and air.
- THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana
- acknowledges the importance of preserving the environment, and designates
- April as "Earth Month", and April 22, as "Earth Day".
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the Department of Environmental Quality and Myrtle Anderson.
