CANCELLATION OF THE PUBLIC HEARING ON A PROPOSED INITIAL PART 70 AIR OPERATING PERMIT AND A PREVENTION OF SIGNIFICANT DETERIORATION PERMIT (PSD) & THE ASSOCIATED ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT STATEMENT (EAS)

The Public Hearing scheduled to receive comments on a proposed initial Part 70 Air Operating Permit and a Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) Permit and the associated Environmental Assessment Statement (EAS) for Consolidated Environmental Management, for the Nucor Steel Louisiana facility, to be located near Convent, St. James Parish, previously scheduled on Tuesday, October 6, 2009, beginning at 6:00 p.m., at the St. James Parish Courthouse, Courtroom A, 5800 LA Highway 44, Convent, LA, HAS BEEN CANCELLED. Further, LDEQ will no longer accept written comments on this action.
LDEQ’s Office of Environmental Services is canceling this public hearing so that fine particulate matter (PM2.5) emissions from the proposed facility can be assessed and addressed in the proposed permits in accordance with EPA’s recent change in PM 2.5 implementation requirements. Once LDEQ completes this review, the public hearing will be rescheduled and a public comment period of not less than 30 days will be provided.
